Abstract

This chapter emphasizes the critical role of feedback in personal and professional growth. It explains the distinction between praise, affirmation, and feedback, highlighting that while praise and affirmation support confidence, only feedback provides actionable insights for improvement. Through practical examples, the chapter illustrates how to seek, interpret, and apply constructive feedback effectively. It also explores how reframing criticism as a growth opportunity can build credibility and maturity. The chapter introduces strategies for requesting feedback from supervisors, peers, and mentors, and explains the value of 360-degree evaluations for leadership development. Ultimately, it encourages early-career professionals to view feedback as a catalyst for advancement and a hallmark of emotional intelligence and self-awareness rather than as criticism to avoid.
