Abstract

Consider the following problem: A man bought a horse for £60 and sold it for £70. He bought it back for £80 and sold it for £90. How much money did he make in this transaction? According to Steiner (1972 ) the way an individual performs a task depends primarily on two elements, namely task demands and human resources, the latter referring to the individual’s ability to perform the task at hand. In the following we will examine these two elements and indicate how they are related to potential and actual performance.
