Abstract

Sustainable information systems (IS), which promote resource management and moral behaviour, are beneficial to the tourism industry. In well-known tourism destinations, creative solutions may enhance visitor experiences, conserve cultural heritage, safeguard the environment, and boost local economies, such as mobile applications for navigation and information. This chapter explains smart tourism in terms of the link between sustainability and IS. Smart technology has the potential to improve the whole tourism experience. Additionally, by attracting eco-aware tourists and boosting their standing as moral travel destinations, destinations that adopt smart and sustainable tourism policies can gain a competitive edge.
