Abstract

In the seaside port of Ouistreham Riva-Bella, the tourism infrastructure is explored through research photography. The port combines concrete corridors, painted signs, barriers, and lights, all designed to guide the flow of people and goods. Art practice has a role here, encouraging visitors to slow down and notice detail. Photography makes these industrial spaces feel personal and adds emotion to their practical features. By slowing the pace, photography moves beyond a focus on people alone. It draws in the environment, showing how agency, feeling, and emotion come from materials, technology, and nature. This research views Ouistreham as more than just a place to visit. It sees the port as a diffraction of movement by people and more-than-human elements by drawing on the vocabulary and conceptual work of posthumanist thinkers and artists.
