Abstract

The case of a left-handed head injured patient (G.F.), with ideomotor apraxia of his left upper limb, is presented. The purpose of the study was to present an analysis of the nature of the apraxia and the results of a rehabilitation strategy (modified ‘Conductive Education’) used to change G.F.’s left hand performance. The results showed a positive effect of therapy, but little carry-over to everyday life. The implications of the study for understanding the nature of apraxia, and for its rehabilitation are discussed.
