Abstract

With the accelerated advancement of digital transformation, China’s vocational institutions are actively exploring emerging technologies to address challenges faced by traditional teaching models. Currently, while metaverse technology is increasingly applied in vocational and higher education, its actual effectiveness remains unsystematically validated. Furthermore, whether students from different backgrounds exhibit varying responses to metaverse education is a critical factor affecting the technology’s widespread adoption. This chapter aims to explore the role of metaverse technology in enhancing vocational skills and adaptability, analyzing satisfaction and acceptance levels regarding its application among students from diverse backgrounds. This study collected 1,210 data points through an online questionnaire survey, achieving an effective response rate of 91.18%. Descriptive statistics, t-tests, and analysis of variance (ANOVA) were employed to assess the impact of metaverse technology on student learning outcomes and adaptability, to understand student experiences and feedback regarding the technology, and to evaluate their acceptance levels. Additionally, reliability and validity tests were conducted on the measurement scales to ensure the reliability and validity of the assessment tools. Based on the findings, practical recommendations for applying metaverse technology in vocational education are proposed, with the aim of assisting vocational college students in better leveraging metaverse technology to enhance their practical learning quality.
