Abstract

This chapter brings together language policy, as an outward indication of language ideology, internationalisation at home (IaH), as a means of access to an international education in the domestic setting, and interculturality, as a way to understand self and other in diverse contexts. The chapter problematises these concepts by showing their shortcomings and the challenges faced when attempting to implement them in educational contexts, but also shows the benefits of a supportive language policy, an inclusive IaH syllabus and a postmodern understanding of interculturality. The chapter discusses how these concepts interact with each other and how together they can support ambitions around plurilingual pedagogic approaches to higher education.
