Psychoanalysis and Infancy
Abstract
To many people who pick up this book, it will seem incongruous or even perverse that a volume on infancy research should contain a chapter on psychoanalysis. Do not advances in developmental psychology and child psychiatry reflect a progressive move away from the unscientific methods and outmoded “hydraulic” theory of Freud and his followers? Whither progress?
