Abstract

As we have pointed out, Luther’s forma mentis is shaped by his longing to ensure eschatological certainty by maximising God’s role and minimising the human role in their mutual relationship. This principle configures his concept of faith. It provides a hermeneutical key to Luther’s doctrine and spirituality and should continuously be taken into account while studying it. 1
