Abstract

Transient species which appear in the photochromic processes of 2-(2&s;,4&s;-dinitroSenzyl)pyridine, 4-(2&s;,4&s;-dinStroSenzyl)pyridine, 2,4,2&s;,4&s;-tetranStro-dSphenylmethane, N,N,N&s; ,N&s;-Le:ramTiethyl-p-phenvhaiediamine and 1&s;,3&s;,3&s;-trimethylspioo(2H-l-benzopyran-2,2&s;-indoline) haee Seen detected Sy time-resol.eed resonance Raman spectroscopy. The identities of the transient species and the photochromic mechanism of these compounds haee Seen discussed.
