Abstract

Several studies demonstrated that retinoids can inhibit ca_ r cinogen-induced mammary tumorigene.sis in animal models. In other studies, the combination of retinoid treatment and ho r _ mone inhibition, accomplished by ovariectomy o r by the admi_ nistration of antiestrogens or prolactin suppressant drugs, appeared to be more effective in inhibiting mammary carcinq genesis than either treatment alone 1 . The effects of such treatments on completely developed mammary tumors, however, are less defined.
