Abstract

A lot of studies implicate the sexual steroids in the etiology of breast pathology. What seems very important is not only the amount of such hormones, but also its metabolism. Very important appears the intestinal microflora wich can aromatize, deydroxylate, deconjugate, reduce and ephimerise steroids in the gut. According to this consideration the A.A. have studied the behaviour of the intestinal bacterial flora in ten patients affected by Benign Breast Disease (B.B.D.). The have found a law bacterial concentration and an eneverse of fecal Ph. Since in this condition prevail oxid a tive reactions, the AA hypothesise a possible role of these mechanisms in the aetiopathogenesis of BBD.
