Hormonal Recruitment Followed by Chemotherapy in Advanced Breast Cancer.
Abstract
“Standard approaches to systemic therapy of breast cancer have provided worthwhile benefit for many patients; however an apparent plateauing of these achievements has occurred over the last decade… new paradigms and new approaches are desperately needed”. In that way, Marc Lippmann (1) pointed out current status of pharmacological therapy in mammary breast cancer, supporting his viewpoint by some fundamental considerations: 1) chemotherapy and hormonotherapy are rarely able to induce complete responses; 2) these responses, partial or complete, are usually shortlasting (max.twelve months), and then, in consequence, 3) these therapeutical tools are very rarely (if not ever) curative.
