Expression of K Ras Oncogene in Lung Cancer: Preliminary Results
Abstract
A common abnormality of malignant cells is alteration in g e netic expression: in particular point mutations; area cha racteristic of the ras oncogene family, leading to qualitative alterations of the encoded 21-kda proteins, designated p21 1-8 . Recently a guanine-to-cytosine transversion has been identified as responsible for the acquisition of malignant properties by k-ras genes in lung tumor cell lines, as well as in a squamous cell carcinoma tissue sample 9 .
