Immunocytochemical Reactivity of New Monoclonal Antibodies to Breast Cancer Cells During “In Vitro” Growth
Abstract
$ The monoclonal antibody (MoAb) technology made it possible new approaches -for patient management and -for basic research in oncology 1 , 2 . A -field, which has been explored extensively, is the production o-f antibodies against tumors 3 - 6 . Many attempts to find tumor specific antigens failed since, at the present time, no one of many MoAbs tested reacts exclusively with tumors. Nevertheless the consistency of the association of some of these antigens with some tumors allows the utilization of TAAs (tumor associated antigens) for immunohistopathological diagnosis or detection of cancer cells 7 , 8 and disease monitoring with serum tests 1 . Moreover also in vivo tecniques to localize tumors in man by radiolabeled MoAbs are now available 9 and some researchers are considering the possibility of leading on MoAbs drugs and/or radiations to tumoral targets.
