Japanese-Brazilian ethnic return migration and the making of Japan's newest immigrant minority
Abstract
International migration has been responsible for creating many of the world’s ethnic minority groups. When migrants cross national borders and settle in foreign countries, they become immigrant ethnic minorities that are racially and culturally different from the dominant populace, and they frequently become targets of discrimination and socioeconomic marginalization. Although many countries have indigenous minorities, most ethnic minorities in the contemporary world are immigrant minorities.
