Mythology and the History of Religions
Abstract
Eliade’s analysis of mythology might be seen as equal in importance to his understanding of religion as his analysis of religious symbolism, including the coincidentia oppositorum , since he considers mythology and religion to be co-extensive—where there is myth there is religion and vice versa (see Reconstructing Eliade , 219).
