Russian Policy Toward Military Conflicts in the Former Soviet Union
Abstract
Conflict management and conflict resolution have quite recently become important issues on the Russian political agenda. To date they have not received adequate attention from either the former Soviet government or the new Russian leadership. The ignorance about the most urgent political issues demonstrated by the new Russian leaders, and their evident neglect in formulating a definitive foreign policy and military doctrine after the dissolution of the Soviet Union, has led to serious mistakes.
