Organic Transformations Involving Organo-Cobalt: Mechanisms and Synthesis
Abstract
Organotransition metal chemistry has provided many powerful new methods for the synthetic chemist. In particular, metal-promoted cyclizations allow the coordination and subsequent incorporation of many structural components in a highly organized manner. Application of these techniques provides the rapid construction of intricate molecular frameworks of theoretical and/or medicinal interest. Furthermore, the unique properties of intermediate transition metal complexes formed during these reactions may have hitherto unexplored modes of reactivity, yielding synthetic routes or structural modifications that were previously inaccessible.
