Teenagers and Motherhood: Who's Being Naive?
Abstract
The results of interviewing a sample of fifty male and female 15-year-olds on the topic of motherhood are reported. It is suggested that these do not support the ‘naivety hypothesis’ according to which teenagers are ignorant of the realities of child care and are entranced by its romantic illusions. Some posssible bases of our own naivety about teenagers are discussed.
