Some Issues Concerning the Implementation of Health Education Projects in Schools
Abstract
This paper briefly describes some of the findings and issues arising from the evaluation of the implementation of the Schools Council 5–13 and the My Body projects in Sheffield. Both projects may be regarded as having achieved considerable success in Sheffield given their respective uptake rates. Adaptation of project materials to suit the needs of individual pupils was evident. In the case of 5–13 teachers selected and taught those parts of the project in which they were personally interested. Small group work, in-service education and resources were all perceived to be important in health education teaching generally, and in relation to these two projects specifically.
