A Multidisciplinary Approach to Health Education in the Primary School: Jimmy on the Road to Super Health
Abstract
For the last three years a research team of two teachers and a psychologist has been engaged in the development of an integrated curriculum health education scheme for primary schools. This group is financed by the Cancer Research Campaign and is based at the Department of Clinical Oncology, University of Glasgow. The aim of the project has been to design health education material for the primary school with specific reference to the problem of early smoking behaviour. This paper briefly outlines the development and content of a teacher’s health education manual designed for use with top primary school classes.
