Abstract

Health education in schools has enjoyed increasing support in recent years from both the education and health services. Its attraction to educationists lies chiefly in its perceived contribution as an important component of personal and social education. Encouraging evidence of changes in health behaviour is also beginning to emerge. However, much greater gains are possible if educationists are able to accept health promotion, rather than health education, as a major goal.
