Madan Veera: A Post-Revolutionary Punjabi Poet
Abstract
Madan Veera’s is the poetry of exile endured at home, inflicted by the world he was born into, and normalised over centuries by practices and institutions feeding on apathy and inertia. The wonder is the suffering does not at all poison Veera’s mind. In anyone else it would have wreaked moral havoc, for it is no ordinary suffering, but one born of unmerited humiliation— something that makes it more than tragic.
