Faces: Some Notes through Marguerite Duras
Abstract
When we come across a “face”—or when a “face” comes across to us—what do we do? We get up and go away, leaving the place. We turn our back to the “ face”. We turn away. But with that movement of ours, does the “face” also turn away from us? No, it doesn’t. It remains turned toward and follows our movement. Then it follows us, till it “faces” us again with its “face”.
