350 Year of Chhatrapati Shivaji's Coronation
Abstract
The 350 th year since the coronation of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj is an occasion of great historical significance, offering an opportunity to reflect on the enduring legacy of the Marathas and Shivaji’s vision of Hindavi Swaraj, or self-rule. This milestone invites us to delve into the rich historical fabric of the Marathas, exploring their military prowess, governance and leadership, cultural preservation, and relevance to the Indian security today. These unsung heroes and gaps in Indian history need to be filled. It is time for both the Central and State Governments to encourage research in higher education institutions.
