Abstract

In the preceding chapters, an attempt has been made to study the practice of paradiplomacy in India’s diplomatic endeavours. After studying the trend, it can be argued that paradiplomacy, as a practice, is yet to gain a foothold in India’s mainstream diplomatic agendas. Although the concept has attracted global attention, especially in academic circles, it is yet to be recognised and practiced by the majority of countries. The diplomatic initiatives independently carried out by subnational governments still remain under the shadow of the federal government’s prerogative due to the prevalent tradition of the nationstate as the primary international actors. It will take a few more years for the paradiplomacy concept and its practice to acquire space in the national mainstream agenda.
