Abstract

Architecture is a visual and tactile discipline. If your main means of production is software, you might consider all the other manifestations of your work as translations of your core business. You can also use 2D drawings and 3D models to present your work; however, all other materials, texts, images, diagrams, books, photographs, renders, models and collages are products that serve to enhance the communication of design ideas to clients and stakeholders. How you approach the translation of ideas into these different media available will define how the world experiences you, and your work. Most architects do this well and rather intuitively. However, you might consider being intentional about how your ideas are visualised and implementing a thoughtful strategy to ensure that this communication adheres to your philosophy, beliefs and visual identity.
