DMA – David Miller
Abstract
When he first set up practice in central London in 2001, David Miller soon came to realise that he was in one of the most competitive architecture markets in the world. ‘Around our office, we once determined that there are 30 architecture practices that all share the same postcode. Within a few streets are likely a thousand qualified architects, all good in design and in selling it.’ Having previously worked in the offices of Norman Foster, Santiago Calatrava and Future Systems, he was well aware of the need for architecture practices to distinguish themselves. ‘We thought long and hard about our unique quality. The challenge for us is to distinguish ourselves in an oversupplied market.’
