Abstract

The study of family context and its effects covers a wide variety of material, ranging from mother-infant interaction to relationships with grandparents and the way in which families are part of their community. As a rule, these studies are often separated from one another by divisions in the literature. There is usually little overlap between the journals or the audience for, say, studies of fathers as parents and studies of community networks.
