Abstract

This chapter provides fashion entrepreneurs with a comprehensive framework for measuring business performance through both financial and non-financial metrics. It begins by clarifying the distinction between finance and accounting and introduces four critical financial figures essential for managing cash flow. Students learn to interpret key financial statements, Balance Sheet, Profit and Loss and Cash Flow, and apply metrics such as gross profit, net profit and break-even analysis to assess profitability. Beyond financials, the chapter explores non-financial indicators, including customer satisfaction, brand equity and innovation performance. It introduces the Balanced Scorecard as a holistic tool for aligning strategic goals with measurable outcomes across financial, customer, internal process and learning perspectives. Special attention is given to sustainability metrics and real-time monitoring tools, empowering entrepreneurs to track impact and communicate performance effectively. By integrating these measurement systems, fashion entrepreneurs can make data-driven decisions, enhance brand value and ensure long-term business sustainability.
