Abstract

This conclusion reflects upon challenges and opportunities that arose while writing this book and, more broadly, in meeting the goal and expectations of the Disaster Studies Manifesto. It offers a reminder that disaster in its current normative understanding is a reflection of a Western ideological project of neoliberalism. Yet, this book also aims to encourage us to find a place in the world, which, we believe, is valuable as it contributes to strengthening anti-capitalist and postcolonial thinking and practice and, as such, offers a path of making demands and calling on each other to move away from disaster as a universal concept.
