Abstract

This chapter explores the intersections of Critical Race Theory (CRT) and Chicana Feminisms as pathways for reclaiming mathematical identities disrupted by systemic racism and sexism. Using story(ing) , the authors narrate personal journeys of disconnection from mathematics, often due to deficit perceptions in schools, and their subsequent healing and reclamation of mathematical wisdom. Critical frameworks, such as racial realism and intersectionality, provide tools for understanding the exclusion of Chicanas/Latinas from mathematical spaces and for envisioning transformative praxis. The chapter argues that embracing CRT and Chicana Feminisms allows for an expansive redefinition of mathematics as a site of resistance, care, and community knowledge production.
