Abstract

This chapter situates Critical Race Feminista (CRF) Quantitative Praxis within the racial and political climate of the post-2025 Presidential Election in the United States—a period defined by the dismantling of equity infrastructures, the criminalization of critical inquiry, and the weaponization of data through projects such as Project 2025. The chapter introduces five functions of story(ing) numbers as a set of tools—re-grounding in story, refusing statistical objectivity, engaging cultural intuition, centering relational ethics, and visualizing with purpose. Each function reclaims quantitative methods as culturally situated, ethically grounded, and politically urgent acts of knowledge production. Story(ing) numbers then becomes a methodological and moral commitment: to count differently, to teach and visualize with care, and to remember the lives behind the data.
