Conclusion
Abstract
The conclusion highlights the precarious state of Latin American cinemas, where the ideal of strong, stable regional funding remains largely unmet. Ongoing political and economic turmoil across countries such as Argentina, Brazil, and Peru underscores filmmakers’ constant struggle and reliance on external support. The research argues against simplistic “colonial” or “saviour” narratives for European film funds, emphasising the complex, evolving dynamics of this relationship. It suggests that while European funds are crucial, they are part of a system facing its own criticisms and limitations. The chapter advocates for continued investigation into diverse local and regional support systems and new grassroots initiatives that challenge established norms. It also examines the hopes and challenges of streaming services as a distribution model, noting persistent issues of internet access and film visibility for art cinema in the region. The study underscores the ongoing fight for Latin American cinema&s;s survival and artistic integrity
