Abstract

This conceptual chapter introduces ethnography as a technique through which scholars seek to understand the norms and values of specific contexts. It explores the ways in which ethnography has transformed in relation to interdisciplinary engagement and the increasing influence of digital media and technology in everyday life. The chapter concludes by reflecting upon the challenges for anthropology as it moves beyond place-based studies into sites such as AI, algorithms, and other areas.
