Abstract

This chapter offers a methodological exploration of our ethnographic project focused on livestreaming on Twitch. In particular, we centered the experiences of women, LGBTQ+, queer, nonbinary, trans folks, and drag performing streamers who livestream their gameplay. Our interviewees, many of whom were queer femme, Black, gender fluid, and transmasculine, were candid about their experiences as streamers on the margins. We note some of these experiences in this chapter. In addition, we explore the strengths of our research, interesting findings, decision-making throughout our research process, and reflect upon our ethnographic experience in this space.
