Shifting Ideologies: Teacher as Learner
Abstract
Using the affective lenses of “feeling literacy through the event” and the pedagogy of critical witness, this case explores the journey of Quinn, an overachieving high school student, in an out-of-school-time writing program for LGBTQ+ adolescents. In connecting her writer identity to that of other queer teenagers, Quinn finds new momentum for her work and comes to see her community of practice as “so much more than a résumé builder.”
