Home and Community Literacy
Abstract
One of the key tenets put forward in this tutoring guide is that the local community provides a wealth of opportunities and materials to provide a foundation for an interest-driven tutorial experience in the spirit of the “new literacies” and the Funds of Knowledge hypotheses. Such serves well the tutees who may find the traditional school-based curricula and instruction not to be their respective cup of tea.
