Abstract

Chapter 1 , Bridging Worlds , details the lenses of our disciplines, their blindspots and the importance of bringing them face to face to rethink our built worlds. It provides an introductory account of the logics and approaches of both fields. In this chapter we outline the broader goals for our project, that is to find ways to see the world in complementary ways, and to work and intervene together, to research and design SOCIOARC places. We outline reimagined roles for the architect and the sociologist, as they work together with communities to research and design for the SOCIOARC place.
