Abstract

An avalanche of safety-related information can overcome people new to safety. It can be challenging to digest safety articles and information due in part to the sheer volume of information, but also the breadth of topics, possible questions about the accuracy of the information, and sometimes unknown motives of the originator. Information in this chapter will help the reader to make sense of some of the various sources and types of information. This chapter will also help the reader apply context to (often cyclical) safety topics commonly discussed in trade magazines, newsletters, social media ads, and by many providers of safety services and products. The chapter will also discuss information available through safety-related organizations such as the American Society of Safety Professionals and the National Safety Council.
