Alternative Assessment
Abstract
Chapter Objectives Justify the use of alternative assessment in physical education. Identify uses for authentic assessment in evaluating student performance. Analyze and discuss the issues of validity and reliability with respect to alternative assessment. Design rating scales and checklists to be used as rubrics for assessing student performance. Differentiate between analytic and holistic rating scales. Create a variety of alternative assessments appropriate to a physical education setting.
