Abstract

This chapter follows the development of the Croatian diaspora in Australia from an unorganised community into forming nationalistic organisations. This dovetailed with developments overseas as other Croatian nationalist émigrés, including those high up in the NDH began to form exile nationalist groups which spread to Australia and across the world. This chapter makes clear that formation of such nationalist Croatian organisations was not something that bothered the Australian government. Introducing these organisations, explaining that these existed on a spectrum of radicalism from peaceful to committed to violence, and setting up the tension brewing between the older and younger generation allow the reader to understand the shift from non-violent to violent nationalist organisations.
