Abstract

In Phase 3 , the solicitors exchanged contracts, which made it contractually compulsory for both parties to complete the transaction to transfer the land. The solicitors then got everything ready for completion : the buyer’s solicitor conducted searches to ensure that nothing had changed which might affect the buyer’s interest in the land, both solicitors ensured they were holding signed copies of all relevant documentation, and the buyer’s solicitor arranged for funds to be sent to them from the buyer and, if relevant, from the lender.
