Abstract

For the seller’s solicitor, completion was the final stage of the transaction. For the buyer’s solicitor, there are some key steps they must take following completion to ensure that the buyer’s acquisition of the property does not lose priority to other interests and that the buyer does not incur any financial penalties, namely: paying SDLT or LTT and notifying the transaction to the relevant authority (HMRC or WRA); registering charges with Companies House; and registering the transaction with HMLR. This chapter examines the details of these requirements and how the buyer’s solicitor can comply with them. This chapter is relevant to all freehold and leasehold Transactions.
