Abstract

LANDRA is both the name of an artist duo – Sara Rodrigues and Rodrigo B. Camacho – and the land they acquired to live and work on. Central to their practice are time and sharing, principles that, much like permaculture, rest on the ethics of earth care, people care, and the return of surplus. These values extend beyond rural contexts: they apply equally to urban life and to relationships with all living beings, human and non-human alike. This conversational chapter with Rodrigues and Camacho explores the notion of commoning – the active process of managing and reproducing shared resources (commons) through collective action and cooperation – through three of their works: Cultura Emergente/Emergent Culture (2021–2022), Agências Terreiras/Earthborn Agencies (2024), and A Emergência da Instituição/The Emergence of the Institution (2024).
