Seminarium
Abstract
The Latin term seminarium – the root of the English words seminar and seminary – originally referred to a place where seeds are nurtured and developed. Over time, it became associated with educational contexts: theological training in the seminary and small-group academic study in the seminar. In this conversational chapter, curator and scholar Ana Rito reflects on how she reclaims and expands this notion, approaching the academy as a medium for curated research. Through her work with MA and PhD students in Curatorial Practices, Rito cultivates not only ideas but also experimental practices of collaborative learning. These projects bring together diverse cultures, methods, and approaches, challenging conventional models of education and exhibition while fostering rigorous research engagement and creative exploration.
