Cultures of hospitality in cultural disappearance
Abstract
Mirna Bamieh’s practice explores the politics of disappearance and the production of memory in Palestinian communities amid contemporary political dilemmas. Her work emphasises the necessity of being together and caring for one another, embodying collaboration, co-production, and co-creation within collective frameworks. In this context, care emerges as a concept of radical sharing, reflecting non-Western perspectives that view natural and cultural resources as belonging to all members of society rather than being subject to sovereign control. Drawing on Bamieh’s practice, this chapter proposes new models of care for both humans and the lands they inhabit.
