Abstract

Many educators are unsure what experiential learning really is, and so to get a better understanding of what it was, how it evolved, and what it might become in the future, this chapter briefly looks back at its pre-historical and historical roots. By exploring the everyday challenges that hominids faced over many thousands of years, the early evolutionary developments that created the foundational capacities to learn are exposed.
