Abstract

In this chapter I will highlight how the Holistic Experiential Learning Theory (HELT) has potential to provide a platform for enhancing student mental health and well-being which is a major concern for universities. Jones et al. (2023 , p 60) report that ‘ Rates of mental health problems in undergraduates are prevalent on a global scale ’. They offer a short but comprehensive analysis of some of the key literature in their book, Transition into Higher Education . The transition period from school to university is known to be an area of concern, partly because there are financial consequences related to retention and progression data monitoring by funding authorities.
